PACKETVIDEO'S CORE MULTIMEDIA PLAYER FOR VIDEO AND MUSIC POWERS 13 NEW MODELS IN NTT DOCOMO
PacketVideo Continues Multimedia Leadership in Japanese Market
TOKYO (November 5, 2008)—PacketVideo Corporation (PV) has been selected by NTT DOCOMO to power 13 new advanced handsets with PV’s universal player software, also known as CORE™ multimedia client framework.
All 13 handsets – F-01A, F-02A, F-03A, F-04A, P-01A, P-02A, P-03A, P-04A, P-05A, SH-01A, SH-02A, SH-03A, SH-04A – are available in the Japanese market shortly.
CORE can handle a broad array of media and file formats of video and music so FOMA™ handset users seamlessly enjoy 3GPP (MP4), “i-motion” (MMP4), and Windows Media content. All 13 handsets also support Microsoft’s Media Transfer Protocol (MTP), an accepted industry standard, for phone-to-PC transferring in addition to using Windows Media Audio (WMA) and Windows Media Digital Rights Management 10 (WMDRM10) for portable devices to play Windows Media content, for example, operated by Napster Japan. These 9 models – P-01A, P-02A, P-03A, P-04A, P-05A, SH-01A, SH-02A, SH-03A, SH-04A – support Windows Media Video (WMV) for streaming services enable watching video content on network with full-browser application at 30 frames per second, for example, there are “FLYING POSTMAN MOBILE” (http://www.fp-m.jp/) based on WMV format operated by millmo, “Brandnew J MOBILE” (http://mobile.j-wavemusic.com/) based on WMA format operated by J-WAVE.
