PACKETVIDEO NOMINATED AS 2009 MEFFY AWARDS FINALIST

PV’s Top-Selling Orange World TV Application for the Apple iPhone Recognized for Bringing Live and On-Demand TV and Video Content to Popular Smartphone

SAN DIEGO, CA (June 18, 2009)—PacketVideo (PV) today announced that the Mobile Entertainment Forum (MEF) has selected its Orange World TV application for the Apple iPhone as a finalist in the “TV and Video Service” category for the 2009 Meffy Awards.

Orange partnered with PV to bring local live television channels and on-demand video clips to the Apple iPhone, providing consumers with a rich, intuitive mobile TV experience on one of the most popular devices in the world. The application leverages PV’s market-leading CORE™ software to support video streaming and playback capabilities, in addition to the middleware services needed to deliver a wide variety of programming content, including more than 60 channels of live television in high definition quality.

PV launched the operator-branded application in the French Apple apps store on April 7, 2009 and it quickly became the market’s no.1 seller. Thousands of Orange subscribers have downloaded PV’s rich media software, which also features an electronic program guide (EPG), fast channel switching and user-friendly channel navigation system designed specifically for the iPhone interface.

Now in their sixth year, the Meffys are recognized as the official benchmark for measuring success and rewarding innovation in the mobile entertainment industry. Entries to the “TV and Video Service” category were judged on innovation in mobile video and developments in the multimedia space. PV’s application was selected as a finalist due to its high quality delivery, premium content, and user-friendly viewer interface.

“PV’s Orange World TV application for the Apple iPhone has experienced tremendous success in the French market,” said Neil Sharma, senior vice president of strategic initiatives at PacketVideo. “Our partnership with Orange has enabled us to bring an exciting new service to consumers throughout the region, and we look forward to rolling the application out to other markets in the near future. We’re thrilled to be recognized for our efforts as a finalist for the prestigious 2009 Meffy Awards.”

The 2009 Meffys received entries from more than 60 countries and were judged by 43 independent journalists and analysts. The winners will be announced at an awards gala on June, 23 2009 at Floridita London, as part of the Mobile Entertainment Forum’s annual event, Mobile Entertainment Market (MeM).
